‘NIKO’ Group of companies and All-Ukrainian Charitable Foundation "Krona" named winners of the competition ‘For life in a clean environment!’, which is held jointly with the International Renaissance Foundation. In 2012, ten projects aimed at solving environmental problems with the support of local authorities, the formation of a responsible attitude towards the environmental protection, projects aimed at encouraging children and young people to volunteer will be implemented. As previously reported, ‘NIKO’ Group of companies has allocated 400,000 UAH to support the winning projects.
Among the winners are both regional and national initiatives. For example, one of the projects deals with the elimination of uncontrolled landfill along the shores of the natural lake Dzhulyn in Chernivtsi region near the village of Shirovtsy. Other has to do with restoration of the city stadium and of the surrounding park in the small town of Old Vyzhivka in Volyn region. These projects may seem insignificant on a national scale, but the implementation of such initiatives in the first place may directly affect the quality of life and raise environmental awareness.
Also among the winning projects are:
- Educational project that includes a number of master classes on landscape design, greening of the school sgounds, eco-educational work with children (Zaporozhye);
- Educating children about the importance of environmental responsibility, recycling, garbage sorting etc. Organizing separate waste collection in schools (Kirovograd);
- A nationwide volunteer project. Provides educational activities with the help of volunteers in 60 cities, participation in the national campaign "Make Ukraine clean";
- The introduction of energy-saving technologies and the replacement of windows in the kindergarten ( Orshivtsi village in Chernihiv region). And other projects.
Since 2007 'NIKO' Group of Companies and the All-Ukrainian Charitable Foundation 'Krona' have been actively involved in providing financial support to NGOs initiatives aimed at addressing various social problems. 'NIKO' Group of companies has already invested over 12.9 million UAH in social and charity programs.
The current environmental topic of social and charity programs is dictated by the urgent need for implementing the effective solutions for conservation of the natural resources, protection and restoration of the environment, attracting public attention to the problems of pollution by dumping of wastes. Our goal is to help as many people as possible to take action to reduce waste pollution, save energy and protect the environment.
